SIT-4

The SIT-4 is the most recent amplifier produced by First Watt, and is the fourth to use Static Induction Transistors (SIT) as the power amplifying device. In 2011 we introduced our first SIT amplifier using a custom Silicon Carbide (SiC) transistor part made by SemiSouth. The amplifier used a single power device, operating without feedback in single-ended Class A “Common-Source” mode to deliver 10 watts of power emulating the characteristic of a Triode, but operating at voltage and currents directly needed by loudspeakers, eliminating the output transformer

SITs: The SIT-4 uses industrial-grade Static Induction Transistors, known for their simplicity and high-quality audio performance in Class A circuits.

Single-ended Class A: The amplifier operates in a single-ended, Class A configuration, minimizing distortion and maximizing musicality.

Tokin THF51s: It uses a specific Tokin SIT device known for its bandwidth and performance characteristics. 

  • Power Output: 100W into 8 Ohms and 190W into 4 Ohms.
  • Bandwidth: 5Hz to 100kHz +/- 1dB and 20Hz to 20kHz +/- 0.05dB.
  • Sensitivity: Gin 28dB, 1 RMS for full power output (single-ended and balanced)
  • Distortion: Less than 0.002%, more like 0.0004% @ 1kHz 1W
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 92dB Ref 1W RMS.
