High-Current 5-Channel Surround Power & Dynamic Impact | Available at Trimira Audio
Designed and manufactured in Canada, the Anthem MCA 525 Gen 2 Power Amplifier provides 5 channels of high-current Class AB amplification designed to drive complete 5.1-channel surround configurations or main bed channels in complex immersive home theatre installations. Delivering 225 Watts continuous per channel into 8 Ohms (400 Watts into 4 Ohms and 600 Watts into 2 Ohms) across all 5 channels simultaneously, the MCA 525 Gen 2 handles high-volume movie soundtracks and complex musical dynamics with absolute authority and thermal stability.
The Gen 2 design features a streamlined internal layout that minimizes internal wiring to create a direct signal path, substantially reducing noise and magnetic crosstalk. Driven by twin custom low-flux toroidal power transformers and 8 high-current bipolar output devices per channel, the MCA 525 Gen 2 produces a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio for a whisper-quiet noise floor. To maintain operational stability during demanding listening sessions, Anthem’s proprietary Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™) system actively tracks temperature, voltage, and current without introducing sound-degrading fuses into the audio signal path.
Key Features & Technological Innovations
-
5-Channel High-Current Architecture: Delivers equal power and dynamic headroom across all five main surround channels for seamless multi-channel voice matching.
-
Twin Low-Flux Toroidal Power Transformers: Heavy-duty toroidal transformers supply continuous power while eliminating stray magnetic field interference.
-
High-Current Bipolar Output Transistors: Utilizes 8 discrete output transistors per channel to distribute electrical load and ensure linear response into low-impedance loads.
-
Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™): Microprocessor-driven protection system continuously monitors thermal and electrical parameters without fuses in the signal path.
-
Direct Low-Cabling Signal Topology: Redesigned circuit layout maximizes power bandwidth (-3 dB at 90 kHz) and delivers a fast 30 V/µs slew rate for accurate transient response.
-
Individual XLR and RCA Inputs: Gold-plated single-ended RCA and balanced XLR inputs for all 5 channels provide clean connectivity with Anthem AVM processors or third-party preamplifiers.
-
Flexible Power Management: Features 3-way turn-on triggers (manual switch, 12V DC trigger, auto-sensing signal detection) and low-power standby mode (<2W).
