Modern Engineering Meets Reference Analogue Authority | Available at Trimira Audio
The AVID ACUTUS™ Dark Iron (STD) Turntable combines AVID HiFi’s advanced mechanical engineering with a distinctive Sparkle Black anodised finish, delivering reference-level vinyl playback with exceptional speed stability, vibration control, and analogue precision.
Handcrafted in Cambridgeshire, England, the Dark Iron edition introduces an integrated motor housing design that improves belt alignment and rotational consistency while maintaining AVID’s signature suspended subchassis architecture.
Featuring a 10 kg mass-loaded aluminium platter, inverted sapphire jewel bearing, tungsten carbide thrust point, three-point adjustable suspension, and external DSP Vari-Speed power supply, the ACUTUS™ Dark Iron is engineered to extract maximum detail and musical expression from vinyl recordings.
Key Features & Technological Innovations
-
Single-Action Aluminium Grounding Clamp: Secures records directly to the spindle while improving vinyl coupling and transferring unwanted energy away from the cartridge.
-
10kg Damped Aluminium Platter: High-mass platter construction with a 10mm damping disc reduces resonance while maintaining rotational stability.
-
Inverted Sapphire Bearing System: Precision bearing assembly uses a tungsten carbide ball and sapphire jewel interface for extremely low mechanical noise and accurate rotation.
-
Adjustable 3-Point Spring Suspension: Tuned suspension system isolates the playback platform from external vibration and footfall energy.
-
Damped Cast Aluminium Subchassis: Rigid aluminium construction with specialised damping treatment helps dissipate mechanical energy.
-
Integrated Motor Framework & DSP Control: Built-in 24V AC synchronous motor provides precise belt alignment, controlled by an external DSP Vari-Speed power supply.
