High-Current Dual-Mono Power & Modern Audiophile Engineering | Available at Trimira Audio
Designed and manufactured in Canada, the Anthem STR Power Amplifier stands as the flagship two-channel power amplifier of Anthem's revolutionary STR Series. Engineered to serve as the beating heart of world-class two-channel sound systems, the STR Power Amplifier combines monumental power generation with refined audiophile transparency. Built using a true dual-mono internal architecture, it delivers a continuous 400 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms, 600 Watts per channel into 4 Ohms, and a massive 800 Watts per channel into 2 Ohms with both channels driven simultaneously.
The STR Power Amplifier benefits from Anthem's proprietary cascoded complementary feedback input stage, which utilizes 8 low-noise bipolar input devices per channel to achieve high linearity, ultra-wide bandwidth, and minimal distortion. Power delivery is handled by 16 high-current bipolar output devices per channel (32 output transistors total) paired with twin, custom-wound low-profile toroidal transformers. On the front panel, a striking 7-inch graphic display provides real-time digital power meters and system status navigation. To safeguard performance without limiting dynamic range, Anthem's non-invasive Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™) system continuously tracks temperature, voltage, and current without putting fuses in the audio signal path.
Key Features & Technological Innovations
-
True Dual-Mono Architecture: Features two entirely separate power supplies and low-profile toroidal transformers to eliminate cross-talk and deliver absolute channel isolation.
-
400W / 600W / 800W Power Output: Delivers immense power reserves (400W @ 8 Ohms, 600W @ 4 Ohms, 800W @ 2 Ohms continuous) to drive even the most difficult loudspeaker loads with complete control.
-
16 Bipolar Output Devices Per Channel: Employs 32 total discrete output transistors in Class AB configuration for instantaneous peak current capability and stress-free reliability.
-
Cascoded Complementary Feedback Input Stage: Hand-matched, low-noise input devices configured in active-load cascoded feedback reduce distortion and preserve micro-details.
-
7-Inch Front Panel Graphic Display: Displays real-time status, setup navigation, and active digital power meters matching the aesthetic of the Anthem STR Preamplifier.
-
Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™): Microprocessor-based protection actively monitors thermal and electrical parameters without sound-degrading rail fuses in the signal path.
-
Sequence-Controlled Soft Turn-On: Prevents power line transients and electrical in-rush currents during start-up, eliminating accidental circuit breaker tripping.
