Reference Dedicated Red Book CD Player & High-Resolution DAC | Trimira Audio Audio Specialist
The Accuphase DP-470 is a high-performance dedicated CD player and standalone digital-to-analogue converter, designed to combine precision Red Book CD playback with modern high-resolution digital connectivity.
As the successor to the DP-450, the DP-470 combines a mechanically isolated, low-centre-of-gravity CD transport with Accuphase's 4-MDS+ D/A conversion architecture and ANCC (Accuphase Noise and Distortion Cancelling Circuit) technology.
Beyond physical CD playback, its USB, coaxial and optical inputs allow the DP-470 to operate as a dedicated DAC for computer audio, digital streamers and other digital sources.
At Trimira Audio, we recommend the Accuphase DP-470 for listeners who want a premium CD transport and high-resolution digital processor in one beautifully engineered component.
Key Features & Audio Engineering Highlights
High-Rigidity CD Drive Mechanism
The DP-470 uses a low-centre-of-gravity transport architecture designed to minimise mechanical vibration during disc playback.
The mechanism incorporates an elastic damping system between the transport and loading assembly, while the solid aluminium disc tray and high-carbon cast-iron feet provide a rigid mechanical foundation.
Three-Layer Anti-Resonance Bridge
A dedicated three-layer bridge structure is positioned over the CD mechanism to suppress unwanted vibration and airborne turbulence generated by the spinning disc.
The structure combines a 1.6 mm steel plate with a foam-core layer to provide additional mechanical control.
Eight-Pole Neodymium Magnetic Disc Clamp
An 8-pole bonded neodymium magnetic chuck firmly secures the CD during playback, helping maintain stable disc rotation and accurate optical tracking.
4-Parallel MDS+ D/A Conversion with ANCC
The digital section employs an ESS ES9026PRO DAC configured within Accuphase's 4-MDS+ architecture, with four parallel converter circuits per channel.
Accuphase's ANCC circuitry is incorporated into the I/V conversion stage, using an additional feedback amplifier to reduce residual noise and distortion.
The result is a specified 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
Direct Balanced Filter Architecture
The analogue output section maintains separate balanced and unbalanced signal paths to minimise interaction between the two architectures.
The balanced XLR output also provides front-panel phase switching, making integration with different balanced systems straightforward.
High-Resolution Standalone DAC
The DP-470 is more than a CD player. Its digital inputs allow it to function as a dedicated DAC for external digital sources.
USB supports up to:
- 384 kHz / 32-bit PCM
- DSD256
- Up to 22.5 MHz native DSD via ASIO
- Up to 11.2 MHz via DoP
Coaxial and optical inputs provide additional digital-source flexibility.

CD Player & DAC in One Component
The DP-470 is particularly useful for systems combining physical and computer-based digital libraries.
CD Playback
The integrated transport provides dedicated Red Book CD playback with Accuphase's mechanical isolation and precision disc-clamping architecture.
USB DAC
Connect a computer or music server through USB Type-B for high-resolution PCM and DSD playback.
External Digital Sources
The coaxial and optical inputs allow connection of compatible:
- Network streamers
- Digital transports
- Media players
- Other digital sources
The DP-470 can therefore serve as the central digital conversion stage for a mixed physical-disc and streaming system.
